Both would seem to count as emo. First of all, a long-standing favourite of mine. This is a song from Taking Back Sunday's new album called "Cut Me Up Jenny". While I was upset to see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs going more poppy and electronic it's refreshing to see that Taking Back Sunday have, if anything, gone more gritty. There's a very rough edge to their vocal style even though their act involves two singers harmonising with each other. So yeah, at the moment I'd consider this to be the stand-out song from their new album "New Again" and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do:

By comparison, much more cheesy and I'll probably get bored with it pretty quickly. I heard this song on the radio today and it certainly made me feel pretty happy at the time. What I like most about it, I think, is that the lead up to the chorus reminds of The Cure. Meh, maybe I'm just a sucker for this sort of thing. I remember having a similar reaction when I first heard the sweet and cheery "Bandages" by Hot Hot Heat and it puzzled everyone else back then too... (that said, that still sounds awesome, so who knows?) So yeah, Metro Station "Shake It":
